Garrick Smith has been involved in Scouting since he was a Cub Scout.  An Eagle Scout from Banner Elk, he has been heading up the Klondike Derby since 1990.  He has served as a Scoutmaster, Troop Committee Chairman, and served as the Dixie 2000 Advisor for Tsali Lodge.

He is currently serving as Chairman of Boy Scouting for the Daniel Boone Council and a member of the Council Executive Board.
