PATROL LEADERS PAGE
This page has some basic hints and suggestions for Patrol Leaders. Anyone having a suggestion for this page, please email it to the Chief.
1. Remember this is a competition event. Your Patrol scoring will be based on many variables, including being on time to meetings. Plan ahead and listen for the bugle calls.
2. Bugle calls ALWAYS signal an event or meeting. If you hear the call, look at your schedule.
3. This year, at the suggestion of a Scoutmaster, Patrol Uniformity will be an individual event with scoring. Not only will your patrol be judged on how they perform, but also on how well they are uniformed. This does NOT mean that they have to wear the scout uniform, they may have a unique Patrol theme that they wish to go with.
4. Do not assume anything. Follow the directions at events just remember, some events are designed where you can utilize other methods, other than the conventional methods to complete them.
5. Use your imagination with the events. Impress the judges. They love to see a patrol come up with a different way to complete an event
6. Remember that LEADERSHIP is a factor in Scoring, as is BBQ Potato Chips for the Chief, well of course he cant award points for chips, but the Chief does like them!
7. Patrol Spirit is a MAJOR factor in scoring. Do all your members participate? Are they encouraging the other members?
8. Do not ever argue with a judge. If you think that you have been treated unfairly by a judge, DO NOT wait until Sunday morning to bring it to the attention of the Field Marshals. They are there to help you during the derby.
9. We cannot emphasize enough…. DO NOT START THE DERBY WITH OUT YOUR SLED ITEMS
10. Be respectful of other Patrols. It is not very Scout like to laugh at a Patrol for failing an event.
11. Above ALL ELSE Have fun.
12. There will be a MESS UP Award for the Patrol or Patrols, that go to the wrong first event. Make double sure you know which event you are supposed to be at.
13. Do not be afraid to approach the Chief or Associate Chief of Program if you have any problems, she really likes Frappachinos!
14. At YOUR requests Troop Leaders will not be permitted to follow Patrols from event to event. There may be special circumstances.
15. Patrol Leaders will need to bring their Patrol Flag and be at the HQ Tent on time for the Patrol Leaders Meeting Saturday morning.
16. Try to think outside the box! Some events have loop holes, and some HAD loop holes.
